Why water droplets are round?

Water droplets are round because of surface tension. Surface tension is a property of a liquid that causes it to resist an external force. When the surface of a liquid is exposed to air, the molecules at the surface are attracted to each other more than they are attracted to the molecules in the air.

This causes the surface of the liquid to contract and form a shape that has the smallest possible surface area. For a water droplet, this shape is a sphere.

The surface tension of water is caused by cohesive forces between water molecules. Water molecules are attracted to each other by hydrogen bonds, which are relatively weak compared to the covalent bonds that hold the molecules together. However, the large number of hydrogen bonds in water means that the cohesive forces between water molecules are quite strong. This results in a high surface tension for water, which causes it to form round droplets.
